MEET JOHN
A recent college graduate who now works in the publishing industry, John’s pipe dream is to one day reach the position of creative management at a major toy company, so he can help bring to the world the toys and games he wishes he could’ve had as a child. With a background in marketing and business management – as well as philosophy – he is acutely aware of every advertisement and promotion’s subtle attempts to manipulate and control people’s minds, and hopes to one day be the one influencing you in ways you’ll never consciously notice. Don’t ask why! Just buy, buy, buy!
John is a fan of many creative distractions, but can’t commit enough to become a rabid fan of anything. Books, comics, movies, TV shows and video games all provide excellent distractions from the dull ordinariness that is his life. He loves his girlfriend very much, and thinks the world of his many wonderful, colorful, interesting and unique friends. He believes that a good thing is never as fun if you keep it to yourself, and helped start WITWAR so that he and others like him could share information about the people, places, things and events in their lives.

Hi John,
I am writing to you to let you know about a fantastic, ground breaking new graphic novel, “P-Brane: The Green Man.” In partnership with Vancouver-based Graviton Publishing, Director Jesse Heffring and writer Chris X Ring have published their first book, an epic science fiction adventure of a memory-loss victim who engages in vigilante justice using superhuman powers that come to him through a series of dreams.
Heffring’s company, Montreal-based Quietus Films has developed a technique where digital photographs of real actors are transformed into the black-and-white graphic images laid out in the book. The true-to-life depictions create a realistic sense of the characters facial expressions and emotions, captured during the acting out of each dramatic scene in the novel. The backgrounds of gritty cityscapes and outer space action are a mixture of affected still-life photos and computer drawn illustrations. The book’s unique style is an arresting, noirish photographic art, rarely seen in other graphic novels and comic books on the shelves.
Over 60 Montreal actors were involved in the creation of the book, with nearly 500 additional participants at New York’s Comicon posing as extras for one scene. Auditions have already begun for P-Brane 2, starting off in comic book stores in and around Montreal, and at the Toronto comic book convention, in conjunction with the launch of the first book.
We’d love to send you a copy of our graphic novel! Please let me know if you would be interested and where I should send it.
Thank you for your time!
Kind Regards,
Julie
