I didn't know Benny was an acronym. I can't imagine what it stands for. Who wrote the piece on Jersey Shore? I'd love to read it.

The Click Five had a minor hit with "Just the Girl" in 2008, and IIRC, they were Fountains of Wayne-ish. I saw the Imrie Road before the rest of the entry, and that excited me, thinking that some of your friends started a band and released an album. However, the connection, however slippery, is still very, very cool. Maybe one day they'll come back and visit.

I enjoyed WALL-E too, but I did not find it to be so earth-shattering amazing as I was lead to believe it was. Definitely a good movie and I wholeheartedly recommend it, for many of the reasons you cited. It was quite thought-provoking and sad, though the stock plots were forgivable because the movie was good. Haven't seen Up yet, so cannot compare.

My sister and my mother make fun of The Click Five mercilessly. I'll tell them the band potentially lived in the same house your friends now live in, and see if that makes them less likely to mock. I'm not hopeful about that prognosis.

The Warren Ellis looks cool. I'm trying to figure out if I like steampunk or not. I'm leaning toward "yes", but that may just be because of the fact Steampunk people have been making weird things out of Altoids tins...

Of course I agree on Mouse Guard. I need to get the hardbacks next year if I can scrape up some money. I also have been considering that I will need to start focusing on my bookshelves more since I can only afford an ever decreasing number of titles on a regular basis. I also think that I will eventually start cracking open the long boxes to do posts on possibly random samplings of the titles and issues I already own. I look forward to reading your posts. Music, Comics, Movies and Videogames are all close to my heart as well.

My family has been enjoying White Collar a lot. I liked the woman they had on that had been Ness from Las Vegas, but she didn't make it out of the pilot. I love having dub dub on the show though. I will watch her wherever I can. I would give a limb for a few more seasons of middle man done at the same quality as the first one.

I categorically disagree with you about the appeal of White Collar, especially in terms of Leverage doing the premise better (because even with the draw of Christian Kane, who I absolutely adore, Leverage was boring and - at least the episode I saw - not well written). It's Matt Bomer all the way, baby! Maybe Natalie Morales would (or could) act circles around everyone else, if she were given much of anything to actually do. But, until then, White Collar's charm for me is the Ocean's Eleven-esque cool-Frank-at-the-Sands type dialogue... And Matt Bomer.

Both Mouse Guard and Night Trippers seem like really, really cool comics. I now want to read them! And Jim Henson's Storytellers looks awesome as well!

Congrats on thinking up a good name to go along with this cool concept!

[...] Wit War Clevinger continues to impress me with his ability to make Robo sound so naturally human, and Wegener’s eldritch horrors are instantly recognizable while still exhibiting a unique aesthetic charm. If you can find this, don’t hesitate to pick it up (and if you can’t find it, tell your local comic shop to yell at Diamond until they get it!) [...]

[...] Wit War I APPROVE AND HERE I TELL YOU WHY: The action kicks into gear with this issue, as Robo takes on the eldritch horror that has possessed H.P. Lovecraft. The entire page where Robo is explaining how to use the lightning guns is pure Clevinger excellence, and should sound right at home to any fans of 8-Bit Theater. Wegener’s art is top-notch as usual, and his Lovecraftian monster is creepy without being disgusting, which is quite an achievement. [...]

Glad you liked it, and that you didn't bend the spine!

While I loved the TMNT reference you threw in, I'm pretty sure Faith Erin Hicks meant it to be a reference to Shaun of the Dead. Just sayin'.

I had my issues with the villain's rationale as well, but my bigger issue was with the minimal repercussions of Joss's "zombie" killing spree once every infected person was cured. This could've been the first real story (other than I Am Legend) where the hero would have to face serious consequences for all that killing once the zombie plague ends.

As far as the monologue goes, your analysis reminds me of two separate comics: "Batman: Mad Love" where Joker takes great pains to make clear to Harley Quinn that "A joke isn't funny if you have to explain it to your audience!" and Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead, currently the reigning king of zombie comics, where Kirkman does have the main character literally scream the entire metaphor of the series to the reader in one of the later volumes. A shame, too, because other than that one outburst the series is a wonderful balance of complex, subtle character drama and white-knuckle suspense horror.

Regarding your final point: maybe Sonnet is just a tea drinker? There are still a few people in this world who don't like the taste of coffee, goth or no goth.
